Financial Gifts

Whether it’s $10 or $100 or more, all financial donations, small and large, are greatly appreciated. Just $100 can feed a family of four for one week, who may otherwise be homeless and hungry.

All financial gifts are tax-deductible, with the Ross Hutchison Foundation being endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) since 2010. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, please send us your details.

Rest assured, all of your donation will go to helping those in need, with the Foundation being a non-profit making organisation and a registered charity with the ACNC – Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission.

Time

We all know how valuable time can be, even more so for an organisation like the Ross Hutchison Foundation. One of the best ways you can support us is by giving a few hours of your time, or maybe even bringing a team with you.

Just one hour a day or one day a week helping on a regular basis can help us to coordinate more of our projects. It could be assisting with the accounts, talking with suppliers, lending a hand with project management, or even manning the phones. Everybody has at least one skill set we can use, and all help is highly appreciated.

Projects like feeding the homeless, and helping with transport and the distribution of wheelchairs to the elderly or disabled always need volunteers.

Non-Perishable Food Items

One of the biggest challenges the homeless and other families in less fortunate circumstances face in Penrith is ensuring their families and themselves are fed.

The shelves at ‘The Lodge,’ Penrith Paceway, are always fully stocked, so anybody is welcome to drop in and take what they need.

You can help by donating non-perishable food items:

  • Rice.
  • Flour.
  • Dry goods.
  • Cereals.
  • Long-life (UHT) milk.
  • Tinned food (fish, veggies and soups, etc.).

Next time you are at the local Woolies, you could pop a few extra items in your basket and swing by the Paceway on your way home.

What’s more, if your business feels they could contribute a free food hamper for the Penrith community, we will make sure it reaches the people who need it the most. And, for larger or bulk donations of food items, one of our team of volunteers can always arrange a collection if required.

Furniture

When starting again or trying to help homeless families and others in need to set up a home, good quality furniture is always gratefully received.

Whether you can donate a side table, a set of bunk beds, or a full kitchen suite, our volunteers will be more than happy to collect it.

Redistributing preloved but quality furniture is just one of the ways the Foundation can help a family plan a better future.

Clothing

For some families, it’s a massive financial burden to clothe their children as well as themselves. School uniforms and sports kits aren’t cheap!

Quality clothing in good condition can always be used by the Ross Hutchison Foundation to help those less fortunate than ourselves. (Just remember to launder the clothes please, we don’t want to be using Foundation funds for laundromat bills — thank you).

Pre-worn clothing can be redistributed to families in need regardless of how old it is. Even that old Barnsey t-shirt you don’t wear anymore will be of use to someone.

Wheelchairs and Other Mobility Aids

The lack of, and cost of, mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility scooters is a major problem for many of the physically disadvantaged in Penrith. Although the Government provides equipment-related assistance to those with disabilities, often the waiting lists are lengthy, and you have to be registered.

If you have a wheelchair or any other mobility aid you no longer use, please don’t throw it out, we can make use of it here at the RH Foundation. Even that old pair of reading glasses you have sitting in a drawer can be used by somebody who may be visually challenged.

    Events and Fundraisers

At the Ross Hutchison Foundation, we organise regular fundraiser events to support our work. This could be an open day at the centre, a charity gala dinner or a party with live entertainment. They’re always good fun, and there are many opportunities to donate at these events, like charity auctions.

If you would like any details of our forthcoming events or to donate a prize for the charity auction, take a look at our Fundraiser page.

Of course, you are more than welcome to organise your own fundraiser event. A race or casino night at your local is a great way of spending an evening with friends while also donating money to a worthy cause like the Ross Hutchison Foundation.

Charity cook-offs are another creative way of raising funds, or why not organise a tombola stall at your next village fete!
